Snipers and most vehicles are immune to the freezing effects of snow. When the blue meter bottoms out, the unit is dead. When the bar turns blue, the unit is freezing. Units in cold areas have a temperature bar. Soldiers can warm up inside structures or near campfires. Units exposed outdoors in heavy snow will freeze to death in minutes.
Weather: Snow is a severe threat in Company of Heroes 2. Units attacked from an unprotected flank do not enjoy the benefits of cover. Roadways count as negative cover.Ĭover is also directional. Negative cover represents an area where your troops are especially vulnerable to enemy fire. Grenades are short-range weapons, so units in cover should concentrate fire on approaching enemies, as these are likely grenadiers. Units in cover take less damage from most enemy attacks.Ĭover is of little use against grenades tossed over barriers. Cover comes in two conditions, yellow cover (half) and green cover (full). Many units have special abilities available in the bottom-right corner menu. Right-clicking on an enemy unit targets it, causing your selected forces to concentrate fire on the highlighted enemy detachment. Double-left clicking a unit shield selects all nearby units of the same type. Multiple squads may be highlighted by drawing a selection box around them with the mouse. Squads may also be selected by left clicking in the appropriate shield icon in the top right corner of the screen. Squads may be selected by single-clicking the shield icon above a formation of soldiers. Each player assumes a role on an opposing side of the conflict and skirmishes for control of a battlefield.
